In spite of all the changes the Jacksonville Jaguars made in the offseason, they are 2-9 ahead of Week 13. They’ve already doubled their win totals and have shown flashes on both sides of the ball. Nevertheless, the Jaguars have their work cut out if they want before they can compete week in and week out.

While the Jaguars won’t be able to revamp their roster until the offseason, they can work on avoiding mistakes such as drops and penalties. Both issues have killed off drives and negated them the chance to score several times. This season, they’ve been flagged an average of seven times per game. Urban Meyer recently told the media he expected a cleaner team by now and that’s on him. Maybe he needs to run a tighter ship.

There are six games left in the schedule. It’s unrealistic to expect the Jags to run the table but they will have the chance to show improvement on the field and finish the season on a strong note. In Week 13, they will face off against a Los Angeles Rams team that is coming off a three-game streak. While winning looks particularly tough, they can’t afford to let it become a blowout and these five Jaguars will need to perform at a high level.

No. 1 Jaguars player that must shine vs. Rams – Nevin Lawson, CB

Cornerback Shaquill Griffin will sit out for the second consecutive week with a concussion. This is bad news for a Jaguars’ secondary that will match up against the Rams’ potent aerial attack. Last week, veteran Nevin Lawson took Griffin’s place in the starting lineup and is a sure bet to get the nod once again against the Rams.

In Week 12, Lawson allowed two passes on four targets for 20 yards and posted a Pro Football Focus grade of 65.7. He needs to have a similar performance against the Rams.
