4. Jaguars player who could find a new home in 2022 – WR DJ Chark

Out of all the Jaguars players set to hit the open market next offseason, wide receiver DJ Chark Jr. might be the biggest question mark. The former LSU Tiger made the Pro Bowl in 2019 and was poised to play a big role on offense this season. However, he fractured his ankle in Week 4 and is out for the season.

Even though Chark only caught seven passes before he got injured, he stretched the field and opened things up for his teammates. Moreover, he was averaging 22 yards per reception and found the end zone twice. Had he stayed healthy, he may have scored more than 10 receiving touchdowns. Also, the Jaguars would be able to take more shots downfield, which they haven’t done often in recent weeks.

Trevor Lawrence is currently averaging 6 yards per attempt, and would surely benefit from having Chark in the lineup. That’s why it would make sense to bring him back and also add another receiver next offseason. The issue would be finding common ground with the 2018 second-round pick. Would he accept a one-year, prove-it deal or would he be more comfortable seeing what other clubs offer him in free agency?

There’s no doubt the Jaguars’ offense is better with Chark than without him but will they bring him back or will another team make an offer he can’t refuse? It will be one of the most intriguing to follow in Jacksonville in 2022.
