The Jacksonville Jaguars coaching staff have increased safety Rudy Ford‘s workload in recent weeks. Their decision has paid off as Ford made the first interception of his pro career. However, he wasn’t their only defensive player that registered a turnover in Week 9.

For most of his NFL career, Ford has played special teams but has gotten more playing time on defense increase since Week 6. Head coach Urban Meyer had previously said the safety has earned more playing time. Also, cornerback Tre Herndon hasn’t fully healed after suffering an MCL injury in the preseason. This paved the way for Ford to get more defensive snaps.

If the Auburn product keeps making plays, it will be hard for the Jags to take him off the lineup. The veteran safety recorded the team’s third turnover of the season. Heading into Sunday’s game, they were ranked dead last in the league in forced turnovers.

A sixth-round pick with the Philadelphia Eagles in 20217, Ford, along with fellow safety Rayshawn Jenkins, signed with the Jags earlier this year. Here’s the interception in case you haven’t seen it or if you want to watch it again (who wouldn’t?).

Edge rusher Josh Allen is also making plays for the Jaguars.

Just when it looked like the Jaguars were done making plays, edge rusher Josh Allen intercepted his namesake. Earlier in the game, he became the first player to sack another player with the same name in NFL history. Because one interception wasn’t enough, here’s the one the 2019 first-round pick snagged.

If that wasn’t enough, defensive tackle Taven Bryan is having a dominant performance as well. He entered the game with 3.5 career sacks and has already brought down Bills quarterback Josh Allen twice in Week 9. This is his first multi-sack game of this fourth-year career, per the Jaguars PR Twitter account.

Maybe, just maybe, the Jaguars are turning the corner. Although there’s still one quarter left to play, they’re doing their best to ensure they win the game. It’s now time for the offense to step up.
