Jaguars player that must product vs. Bills No. 2 – DT DaVon Hamilton

Defensive tackle DaVon Hamilton was a pleasant surprise last season, working his way up the depth chart and eventually seizing a spot in the starting lineup. The Ohio State product appeared in 11 games with six starts and logged 30 total tackles, one tackle for a loss and one sack. Moreover, he earned the highest Pro Football Focus grades among Jaguars’ players in Week 7 and 9 of the 2020 season. However, a knee injury put an end to his rookie campaign.

Hamilton hasn’t been bad in 2021, but he hasn’t made enough impact plays either. He’s played all possible games and made four starts. He has a PFF grade of 58.6 for the season and has registered 21 total tackles. Ahead of the game versus the Seahawks, head coach Urban Meyer said the defensive front was applying enough pressure in the edges but not much upfront.

The Jaguars need Hamilton, along with fellow defensive tackle Malcom Brown, to step up against the Bills in Week 9. The pair must clog up Buffalo’s running plays and try to collapse the pocket. Outside linebackers Josh Allen and Dawuane Smoot have done a good job of containing the edges. It’s up to the 2020 third-round pick to wreak havoc in the interior.
