Jacksonville Jaguars unit that could use upgrades No. 2 – Offensive line

The Jaguars’ offensive line has performed well in spite of injuries. Currently, center Brandon Linder and right guard A.J. Cann are on the injured reserve list, and it’s uncertain when they will return to the lineup. Tyler Shatley and Ben Bartch have played well in their absence but the group can’t afford to suffer more injuries.

Will Richardson can line up at guard if needed. The coaching staff has asked him to do so and he did a competent job. On the other hand, the Jags need to consider adding depth to the offensive line. Rookie Walker Little has been inactive for several games and has yet to play a snap. It’s hard to tell whether he’s not ready or the team hasn’t had the need to use him. Either way, the front office should err on the side of caution and bring in reinforcements.

Also, Jacksonville’s depth at guard is suspect. Richardson saw the field when Bartch exited the game against the Dolphins with a concussion. The Jaguars signed Cory Cronk to the practice squad a few days ago and also have KC McDermott. Neither player has much experience playing.

That’s why it wouldn’t be a bad idea to make sure depth isn’t the issue up front in the following weeks. Keep in mind that the Jaguars had their BYE relatively early in the season, and they should add one or two players before the trade deadline to ensure they have enough healthy bodies at the end of the year.
