Jacksonville Jaguars: 5 trade targets to bolster roster before 2021 deadline
The Jacksonville Jaguars made several additions to the roster this past offseason but they still need to keep adding talent before they can compete on a consistent basis. They will likely be active in next year’s free agency but they don’t have to wait until then to acquire players. They could pull off a few deals before the November 2 trade deadline.
The Jags have shown they will trade for players if they believe they can contribute right away. Just a few weeks ago, they exchanged cornerback C.J. Henderson for tight end Dan Arnold, who has quickly become a key cog on offense.
If the Jaguars are interested in making a few trades to give their roster a boost, they should be interested in these five players.
Jacksonville Jaguars trade target No. 1 – DT Maliek Collins.
Fourth-year defensive tackle Taven Bryan has been a non-factor in 2021, logging just six combined tackles and one tackle for a loss. Moreover, the former Florida Gator hasn’t played more than18 defensive snaps in a game since Week 2. Meanwhile, rookie Jay Tufele hurt his hand during warmups ahead of the Jags’ Week 6 game against the Miami Dolphins. But even before that, he had appeared in just one game this season.
The Jaguars’ defensive front could use a boost and defensive tackle Maliek Collins would make an impact right out of the game. Sure, interdivisional trades are rare but the Houston Texans will start rebuilding next year and will need as many draft picks as possible in order to acquire talent.
Collins has started every game in 2021 and has played 60 percent of the Texans’ defensive snaps. He’s posted a solid Pro Football Focus grade of 62.6 and has registered 11 combined tackles and one tackle for a loss.
