Josh Gordon would keep the Jacksonville Jaguars on their toes.

This concern wouldn’t be reserved for the Jaguars. Gordon has been suspended several times, and he may very well get slapped with another one. It may not happen in the first or second month but the likelihood of it happening is high. There will certainly be teams that are willing to take that risk but Jacksonville shouldn’t.

Head coach Urban Meyer probably doesn’t care (nor shouldn’t) care about what people outside the building say but the team’s brass has taken several swings over the last few months and has not hit many dingers in that span. For example, Tim Tebow was given a chance to make the team but was cut in the very first round of roster cuts. Would Gordon be any different?

Let’s say Gordon does well at first, shows up at practice on time, and looks like he could contribute at any time. Then, he gets suddenly suspended once again. Would he have been worth the investment? After all, he hasn’t been suspended once or twice but six times.

Don’t forget that the best ability in the NFL is availability and if Gordon is at risk of being suspended, another team should carry the risk. The wide receiver has been a good teammate, and there have been no reports about him being a bad influence on other players. He has simply not proven the Jaguars, or any other team for that matter, can rely on him.
