After undergoing a makeover over the last eight months, the Jaguars will fly to Houston to take on the Houston Texans in Week 1 of the 2021 season. The Jags are

favored to win the game by three points

. However, it won’t be easy to beat the Texans at home. In fact, no divisional game is ever easy.

Last season, Houston beat Jacksonville twice. If they don’t want the Texans to sweep them for the second consecutive year, they need to play as if they were competing for a playoff spot. The coaching staff already had three preseason games to work out the kinks, so they now need to take the field and execute.

Then again, there’s only so much coaching can do, and in the end, players have to perform. In particular, these five Jaguars must play at a high level if they want to start the season on a roll.

Jacksonville Jaguars player who must show out No. 1 – LT Cam Robinson

Cam Robinson has been inconsistent throughout his NFL career and hasn’t performed like the top left tackle the Jaguars thought they were getting when they made him a second-round selection in the 2017 draft. The Alabama product will have the chance to show he is the long-term answer at the position. He will play the 2021 season on the franchise tag after not reaching a multi-year deal with the team’s brass in the offseason.

Robison may have a favorable matchup in the season opener. Texans EDGE rusher Whitney Mercilus injured his hamstring in Week 3 of the preseason. If the 2012 first-round pick isn’t at full strength, Robinson’s job may get considerably easier. He still has to perform and make sure quarterback Trevor Lawrence’s jersey remains clean throughout the game.
