Tim Tebow next on YouTuber Jake Paul’s fight wish list
Former Jacksonville Jaguars tight end Tim Tebow is a man of many talents who isn’t afraid to take chances. Would he accept YouTube superstar Jake Paul’s invitation to fight?
Youtube behemoth Jake Paul recently posted a message on social media telling Tim Tebow it’s time to get into boxing. However, the former Gator quickly shut down any talks about a potential fight, “I don’t know, I think there’s much of a shot for that”.
Paul quickly rose to prominence as a content creator on the now extinct social network Vine. He was also a main cast member on Disney Channel’s series Bizaardvark. His YouTube channel has 20.4 million subscribers as of this writing. The Ohio native started to box back in 2018. He first had an amateur match against YouTuber Deji Olatunji. He then went professional and has faced off against YouTuber AnEsonGib, former basketball player Nate Robinson, retired MMA fighter Ben Askren and Tyron Woodley. He currently holds a 4-0 professional record.
Tebow is known for not being afraid to take chances. After failing to make an impact as a quarterback in the NFL, he gave baseball a shot. After he hanging up the spikes, he signed with the Jaguars and tried to switch to tight end. In the end, his comeback attempt fell short but nobody will question his resolve. Here’s Paul’s original tweet, in case you haven’t seen it.
Tim Tebow may want to sit Jake Paul’s invitation out.
Tim Tebow doesn’t come across as the kind of person that would accept to fight just for the sake of publicity. Thus, it wasn’t surprising to see him decline Paul’s invitation. Sure, he embraces the spotlight but isn’t actively looking for it. During his short stint in Jacksonville, he put his head down and spent the whole summer working on his craft. The Florida product wasn’t good enough to make the roster, and you can question Jaguars head coach Urban Meyer’s decision to sign him. But you will be hard-pressed to find someone who saw him as a distraction or a diva.
Former Jaguars tight end Ben Ellefson had nothing but good things to say about the 2010 first-round pick before being waived and promptly claimed by the Minnesota Vikings.
"He’s a great leader, just a great person, you guys obviously know that him being from Jacksonville. So just being around him and being able to learn from him you know things, taking care of your body just different things like that. He was great at just being a good teammate, a good locker room guy, and I was very fortunate. I’m very glad that he was a part of our room for a short while."
Tebow will soon be joining ESPN’s morning show First Take. He will be appearing on Fridays to debate “all things college football heading into Saturdays throughout the season”. He can surely multitask but fighting Paul isn’t at the top of his priority list. Maybe the Youtuber may end up convincing the Heisman Trophy winner to get on the right. For the time being, don’t hold your breath, as it looks like a long shot.
