Jacksonville Jaguars: 5 bold predictions for preseason finale
The Jacksonville Jaguars’ pass defense will show up versus the Cowboys.
4. The Jaguars’ defense will hold the Cowboys’ offense to 250 yards.
The Jaguars haven’t been able to stop the New Orleans Saints and the Cleveland Browns from throwing the ball. That will change in Week 3. The secondary will tighten things up and will limit Dallas’ offense to less than 250 passing yards.
Whether is miscommunication or technique, the Jaguars’ back seven will play up to their potential. The fact that quarterback Cooper Rush will get the start will also help. Dak Prescott has been nursing a shoulder injury and will play until the regular season. Rush is 25-of-38 for 256 yards and two touchdowns in two preseason games.
5. The Jaguars’ defense will register three sacks and two interceptions.
That’s right, this is the game the Jaguars’ defense lives up to their potential. The team’s brass spent the offseason making upgrades to the defensive front and the secondary. They will, at last, see a return on their investment. Jacksonville will constantly apply pressure up front, which will lead to Cooper Rush making mistakes.
The Jaguars’ defense is far from a top unit but there are solid pieces in place. Even though EDGE rusher Josh Allen won’t play in Week 3 of the preseason, the Jaguars front seven will register three sacks. Count on K’Lavon Chaisson to make one of them. Also, the secondary will snag two interceptions.
The Jaguars’ defense will enter the regular season at full throttle.
