Jacksonville Jaguars: 5 bold predictions for preseason game vs Saints
Maybe you heard that the Baltimore Ravens have won 18 consecutive preseason games, so why aren’t more people talking about the achievement? Because preseason contests don’t count in the standings, that’s why. Nevertheless, there are several reasons why they’re important. They give teams the ability to evaluate their players and it also helps them decide who will make the roster.
In particular, the Jacksonville Jaguars need to get quarterback Trevor Lawrence ready for the regular season. Also, there are several young players that will benefit from getting snaps in the preseason. After losing 23-13 to the Cleveland Browns in Week 1 of the preseason, the Jags will face the New Orleans in Week 2 of the preseason.
Here are five bold predictions for the Jaguars’ Monday Night preseason game.
1. Quarterback Trevor Lawrence will throw two touchdowns.
For a moment, it looked like quarterback Gardner Minshew was going to start against the Browns but Trevor Lawrence ultimately got the nod. In the end, his preseason debut wasn’t particularly great, completing six of nine passes for 71 yards and no touchdowns. To his credit, he told the local media that he felt a bit nervous, which isn’t surprising when you take into account it was his first game at the pro level.
Lawrence held the ball too long but also have a few bright moments, such as a 35-yard completion to wide receiver Marvin Jones Jr. It wouldn’t be shocking to see the Clemson product display growth against the Saints and score, not one but two touchdowns. Also, don’t be surprised if he plays for more than one quarter.
