Here’s the Jacksonville Jaguars’ best second-round pick ever.

Okay. Now, let’s remove any player that didn’t start at least half of the years they played for the Jaguars. Minus seven leaves us with 18. Need to make more cuts. The bottom four guys are out – not enough time yet. 14. Jonathan Cyprien is out – not enough games played. 13 – still got some work to do.

Time to start nitpicking. Using complicated math, another seven are eliminated. Here are the six left:

Brad Meester – 14 years, starter from day one, 209 games, all with the Jags.

Daryl Smith – 13 years, 12 as a starter, nine for the Jaguars, 190 games played.

Rashean Mathis – 13 years, started 11 years, ten with Jacksonville, played in 175 games, one Pro-Bowl, and one All-Pro selection.

Maurice Jones-Drew – nine years, starting four, played in 126 games and was selected to three Pro Bowls and one All-Pro team. Played behind Fred Taylor his first three years.

Allen Robinson – seven years, starting five, played 88 games, and has been selected to one Pro Bowl.

Myles Jack – five years, starting all and played in 73 games.

Next cut – time with the Jaguars. Goodbye to Allen Robinson. Daryl Smith gets beat out by Rashean Mathis.

Four left. If he continues to play at the level he has to start his career, then he may turn out to be the best second-round pick. We’ll see how he does. For now, Myles Jack is the next man out.

We’re down to the final three. They are:

No. 3 – Rashean Mathis. This was close and we’re splitting hairs at this point, but Rashean lands at number three.

No. 2 – Maurice Jones-Drew. He edges out Mathis because the position he played has a shorter career and he had three Pro Bowl selections after sitting behind Fred Taylor for his first three years.

And the Jacksonville Jaguars’ best ever second-round draft pick is – Brad Meester. A starter from day one at center. The most consecutive starts to start his career of any Jaguar ever. Playing over 93 percent of games in his career, all as the starter at a crucial position. He was part of an offensive line that helped two running backs, a tight end, and a quarterback earn Pro Bowl and All-Pro honors. Do agree or disagree?
