Jacksonville Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence keeps making strides.

Quarterback Trevor Lawrence has been under the spotlight even before the Jaguars made him the first overall pick in 2021, and rightfully so. He’s been one of the most talented prospects to come out of the college ranks in a while, so everything he does (especially the bad) will be magnified.

Lawrence underwent surgery on his non-throwing earlier this year and was later limited by a hamstring injury. However, he showed he’s made significant strides on Day 1 of training camp. Other than a fumbled shotgun snap, he was mistake-free, according to John Shipley of Jaguars Report. Even though the former Tiger mainly practiced with the second team, he showed poise and made a few jaw-dropping throws, including two that ” no Jaguars’ quarterback over the last several years has shown the ability to do.”

The 2020 ACC player of the year is surely giving Jags fans a reason to be optimistic in 2021. The team has lacked stability at quarterback for several years even though they tried to upgrade the position several times over the last decade.

Cornerback Shaquill Griffin complimented Lawrence when speaking to the media, “I saw him hit a pass today, it was so pretty”. Wide receiver DJ Chark later described the rookie passer’s first day as “pretty cool”.

“I got a few reps with him, we connected a few times, the wide receiver said. “I can’t give too much detail because I really don’t know who’s going to ball when I’m running out but the times I did notice,  it was pretty good spirals, good passes”. Chark added he saw Lawrence throw a deep post at the end for a touchdown. Based on the early results, it won’t be long before the quarterback practices with the ones and is named the starter.
