The Jacksonville Jaguars have done a good job of revamping their cornerback room this offseason. They signed Shaquill Griffin in free agency and took Tyson Campbell in the second round of this 2021’s draft. If that wasn’t enough, they also brought back Sidney Jones and Tre Herdon.

After all the additions the Jags made to their cornerback group this offseason, the unit looks in great shape and there may not be room for anybody else but what if that someone else is All-Pro Xavien Howard.

You might’ve read that it might not make much sense to pursue the two-time Pro Bowl but it isn’t often that a shutdown cornerback is available via trade. Howard has made it be known that he’s not pleased in Miami and wants to be traded. It all started with a cryptic message on social media. It read, “They won’t realize how big a part you play until you not there to play it no mo”. Mike Silver, formerly of NFL Media, later confirmed that the 2016 second-round pick was unhappy with his current deal.

The Miami Dolphins gave Howard a five-year deal worth $75.250 million back in 2019. Although that’s a lucrative amount of money that plenty of folks would love to have, the cornerback has outplayed the deal. He rightfully wants a contract that reflects his status as an elite player.

So why is Howard demanding a pay raise? Last season, he appeared in all 16 games and logged 51 total tackles, one forced fumble, 20 passes defensed and led the league in interceptions with ten. The Jaguars would surely love to have that kind of production from the cornerback position and have the cap space to give him a new deal. They also have the ammo to make a trade happen.

Without further ado, here are three bold trade ideas to land cornerback Xavien Howard.
