Jacksonville Jaguars top 5 players on roster under 25 years old
5. DJ Chark – Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver
Second-year wide receiver Laviska Shenault Jr., who will turn 23 this year, could have made this list. The 2020 second-round pick displayed flashes in his rookie campaign and is a favorite to have a breakout season in 2021. Nevertheless, Dj Chark Jr. has already shown he can play at a Pro Bowl level.
Back in 2019, the LSU product appeared in 15 games and hauled in 73 receptions for 1,008 yards and eight touchdowns. Also, he posted a Pro Football Focus overall of 75.2. Had the Jaguars had less inconsistency at quarterback in 2020, Chark could have had another 1,000-yard season. Instead, he experienced a drop-off in production and caught just 53 passes for 706 yards and five touchdowns.
The Jaguars will have more stability at quarterback in 2021 after selecting Trevor Lawrence with the first overall pick in 2021’s draft. All skill-position players will benefit from the former Tiger’s presence in the lineup, including Chark. The 2018 second-round pick is entering a contract year and will benefit from having a career year. He deserves a new deal but how much are the Jags willing to invest in him? They could offer Chark a fair offer to avoid making it a distraction but he could also opt to bet on himself and wait until next season to sign a deal.
It’s uncertain what the Jaguars plan to do with the 24-year-old wide receiver. However, one thing is sure: Chark is poised to rock the NFL world this upcoming season.
