4. Cam Robinson – Jacksonville Jaguars left tackle

Here’s another player that is not even 26 yet but it somehow feels like he’s been around forever. Left tackle Cam Robinson has not lived up to his draft billing. The Alabama product started all 16 games last season but allowed a whopping 40 total pressures and five sacks. That’s not the kind of performance you expect from the quarterback’s blindside protector.

Robinson has been inconsistent throughout his four-year career, so it was kind of surprising to see the Jaguars apply the franchise tag on him earlier this year. You could argue that the team had no better options even though they could throw bags of money at Trent Williams or trade for Orlando Brown Jr. After using the tag, head coach Urban Meyer said they would like to give the 2017 second-round pick a multi-year deal but they may be better off letting him play under the one-year tender.

There’s a chance Robinson finds finally turns the corner in 2021 but it’s equally possible that he struggles once again. Offensive line coach George Warhop told the media that the left tackle has made strides this offseason but still needs to find more consistency in pass-blocking situations. However you spin it, it doesn’t sound like the coaching staff is fully on board.

If Robinson has all the tools to play at a high level but something is missing. Maybe this is the year he gets it together. If he plays well this upcoming season, he will be able to cash in next offseason, so he’s got a pretty good incentive to reach his potential.
