Ranking Jaguars wide receivers following the 2021 NFL Draft
One of the Jacksonville Jaguars’ few bright spots in 2020 was their wide receiver corps, led by DJ Chark Jr. and then-rookie Laviska Shenault Jr. One year later, the unit looks even stronger after all the additions the team has made this offseason.
Last year, the Jaguars’ inconsistency at quarterback hindered their wide receivers but Trevor Lawrence, the first overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, will fully take advantage of the team’s skill-position players and Chark and Shenault will have even more productive year. Also, Jacksonville signed Marvin Jones Jr. in free agency, so the group should once again be a strength even though the team moved on from Keelan Cole this offseason.
Here’s a ranking of the Jaguars’ wide receiver corps following this year’s selection meeting.
Who are the Jacksonville Jaguars’ top wide receivers?
1. DJ Chark – The former second-round pick earned a Pro Bowl nod in 2019. Last season, he still played at a high level but the Jags didn’t have a quarterback that could constantly take advantage of his playmaking prowess. Lawrence will change that and Chark should post the second 1,000-yard season of his young career.
2. Marvin Jones – The former Detroit Lions wide receiver was not long ago named the Jaguars’ best offseason acquisition and rightfully so. Although he’s only had one 1,000-yard season in his career, he’s been consistent and has scored 32 touchdowns over the last four years. He will be a reliable target in the Jaguars’ offense and should also end the year with more than 1,000 receiving yards.
