The first round of the 2021 NFL Draft has concluded and the Jacksonville Jaguars have come out with a stronger offense. They drafted two Clemson players, Trevor Lawrence and Travis Etienne, which marked the first time in the common draft era that a quarterback and running back from the same school were selected in the first round of the same draft.

There were plenty of fans confused by the Jaguars’ decision to draft Etienne when they already have James Robinson but the Jaguars knew he wasn’t going to be available with the first pick in the second round (33rd overall) and they made the smart decision to grab him at 25.

The following seven picks in the first round couldn’t have resulted any better, as the Jaguars still have their choice of several first-round talents who happened to fall into the second round and right into their lap.

There are an array of players who have been frequently mocked to the Jaguars at the 25th overall pick, and in a fun turn of events, plenty of these same players are still available for them at pick 33.

S Trevon Moehrig

No safety was drafted in the first round of the draft this year and Moehrig is the likely positional candidate to come off the board first.

Moehrig has the range, skillset, and versatility to become an impact defender at the NFL level. He works best as a free safety but can play multiple roles on defense and special teams when asked to. An incredibly solid athlete, he has good speed, instincts, and anticipation.

Moehrig’s ball skills are one of the best in the draft when it comes to defensive backs. While he may struggle with open-field tackles, he makes good use of his hands by constantly getting them in play on the ball.
