The 2021 NFL Draft is just a couple of days away and with all the free-agent signings and trades that have been made, we can make some better guesses on what direction the Jacksonville Jaguars will go, especially early. For that reason, this mock draft will expand to seven rounds.

With the first pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, the Jacksonville Jaguars select:

No. 1 – Trevor Lawrence, quarterback, Clemson.

Urban Meyer: “I’d have to say that’s the direction we’re going”. That’s what the Jags head coach told Peter King of NBC Sports when asked about selecting Lawrence with the first overall pick, so we can all quit speculating – this Jacksonville team gets their franchise quarterback.

No.2 – The New York Jets select Zach Wilson, quarterback, BYU.

Zach Wilson lit it up at his pro day. Of course, so did Sam Darnold three years ago. The ‘Gang Green’ are hoping the BYU standout will have the intangibles to perform better than Darnold.

No. 3 – The San Francisco 49ers (trade with Miami) selects Trey Lance, QB, North Dakota State.

The 49ers traded up from the 12th spot and gave the Dolphins first- and third-round picks in 2022 and another first-round selection in 2023. You don’t do that for any position other than quarterback, the question is which one? Mac Jones of Alabama, Justin Fields of Ohio State, or Trey Lance of North Dakota State? The Niners seemed to be leaning toward Jones initially, but after a second pro day with head coach Kyle Shanahan in attendance, Lance moved ahead.
