The Jacksonville Jaguars placed the franchise tag on left Cam Robinson this offseason. They must’ve liked what they saw on tape that they gave him the chance to show he can be the long-term solution at left tackle. While it may not be impossible, it will surely be a daunting task for the Alabama product, as he hasn’t been consistent throughout his four-year career.

The Jags obviously want Robinson to succeed, otherwise, they wouldn’t have slapped him with the tag. However, they should err on the side of caution and have a fallback ready if he ends up falling short. They could take a young offensive prospect in the 2021 NFL Draft and groom him in case Robinson or right tackle Jawaan Taylor underperform.

The 2021 offensive tackle class is so deep that the team could end up with a good player in the second round or even in the third. In fact, the only prospect that will be out of reach for the Jaguars is Oregon’s Penei Sewell, who will most likely be a top 7 selection and possibly the first non-quarterback drafted.

The Jaguars have two first-round picks, the first and the 25th selections, but they have already earmarked the top pick to take Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence, and trading up to acquire Sewell would be unrealistic. On the bright side, this Jacksonville team will have its fair share of offensive tackles to choose from in 2021’s draft. Here are the top 10 after the Oregon standout.
