Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence is currently the talk of the town but Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Gardner Minshew‘s latest fashion statement has stopped conversations about the 2021 NFL Draft at least for a weekend.

Minshew recently posted a picture of his new look on his official Instagram account. He says that as much as he liked his previous hairstyle, the Dirty Diesel Drapery, he is embracing the “more refined Platinum Power Pelt”. Later in the post, he describes the haircut as aerodynamic and sleek.

You could argue that mullets, Minshew’s hairstyle of choice, are outdated but in reality, they are ageless and transcend the passage of time. The problem with getting one is that not everybody can make them look good. However, the Washington State product doesn’t even have to try and is the kind of person that can rock any kind of haircut.

If anything Minshew didn’t take enough risks and opted to just trim the top of his mullet. He should’ve gotten out of his comfort zone and gone for a completely different look. If he had gotten a side part or a pompadour, he would show up on the cover of GQ, People, and men’s fashion magazines such as Bespoke Unit for the remainder of the year.

Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Gardner Minshew did it again.

Minshewmania took the NFL by storm in 2019 and made the Jaguars relevant even though they finished 6-10. Although Minshew came crashing down in Year 2 and will most likely be relegated to backup duties with Trevor Lawrence coming to town (if he doesn’t go anywhere), he’s had a significant impact for this Jacksonville team in the last two years.

Even if Minshew wasn’t able to turn into the franchise quarterback the Jaguars expected, he’s made it fun to watch them play and is relevant enough that he can have the internet talk about him just by changing his hairstyle. Minshew the quarterback may not be an upper-echelon player on the football field, but Minshew the ‘dude’ is having plenty of success outside of it and that’s something nobody, not even Lawrence can take away from him.
