Jaguars: 4 AFC West free-agent targets this offseason
Nelson Agholor would give the Jacksonville Jaguars an offensive weapon.
As important as it is for the Jaguars to fix their defense this offseason, they also need to upgrade their offense. In fact, quarterback is their most pressing need but they will most likely use the first overall selection in 2021’s draft to take Trevor Lawrence. Tight end is probably next on the list, but the team should also give their wide receiver corps a boost.
The Jags already have a couple of studs in DJ Chark Jr. and Laviska Shenault Jr, but Keelan Cole is scheduled to become a free agent and it’s uncertain if they will bring him back. In case he does hit the open market, Jacksonville will need to find a replacement and Nelson Agholor will probably be available this offseason.
A first-round selection by the Philadelphia Eagles in 2015, Agholor wasn’t necessarily bad in Philly but he wasn’t the playmaker he was thought to be either. After five years in the City of Brotherly Love, Nelly signed a one-year with the Las Vegas Raiders last offseason and went on to have the best year of his career, hauling in 48 receptions for 896 yards and eight touchdowns. Moreover, he averaged 18.7 yards per catch and posted a 73.8 Pro Football Focus grade.
If the Jaguars are interested in signing the best wide receiver in the free-agent market, they should pursue Kelly Golladay. However, if they want to get the most bang for the buck and are looking for a more budget-friendly option, Agholor is their man.
