Jaguars top 3 running back targets ahead of free agency
Malcolm Brown could join the Jacksonville Jaguars’ running back committee.
A few years ago, the Los Angeles Rams were known as an offensive powerhouse. However, their defense carried them in 2020 with quarterback Jared Goff regressing. Back in 2018, when they made it to the Super Bowl, they had the second-best offense in the NFL and ranked 20th on defense.
Things took a turn last season and the Rams’ offense ranked 22nd in points scored while their defense was first in points allowed. On the other hand, their running game was still effective and ranked 10th in both rushing yards and rushing touchdowns scored. One of their reasons for Los Angeles’ success running the ball was their running back committee.
While Cam Akers led the team with 145 carries, Malcolm Brown tallied 101 carries for 419 yards and five rushing touchdowns, three more than Akers and the same amount as Darrell Henderson. Over his six-year career, he’s averaged 4.3 yards per carry and has logged 298 carries for 1,1188 yards and 11 touchdowns.
Brown has spent his whole career in Los Angeles after going undrafted in 2015. This is the first he will hit the open market and whoever signs him will get a solid complementary back at an affordable salary.
