There will be many ways the Jacksonville Jaguars can address the left tackle position this offseason, but if they want to, they could also add an upgrade at right tackle in free agency even though it may not be an immediate need.

Jawaan Taylor has 32 started at right tackle for the Jaguars since being drafted in 2019 but took a step back in 2020 after a promising rookie campaign. He gave up 58 total pressures last season after allowing a manageable 41 in 2019. Also, his Pro Football Focus overall grade went from 63.7 to 56.5.

Taylor wasn’t the only Jaguar that struggled last season, so it wouldn’t be shocking to see him get back on track. After all, he’s just 23 and it might be too soon to give up on him. On the other hand, if the Jaguars’ new coaching staff thinks they need to get better at right tackle, there are going to be a few appealing options in the open market.

The list of right tackles available in free agency may look very very different in the next few days, as teams are already starting to make moves. Justin Britt, who took one season off to rehab his knee and played right tackle early in his career, just signed a one-year $3.2 million deal with the Houston Texans, and the Carolina Panthers are expected to use the franchise tag on Taylor Moton. Even with Britt and Moton off the market, the Jaguars will have options in free agency, and here are three that could interest them.
