Would Jacksonville Jaguars sign these 3 free agents this offseason?
The Jacksonville Jaguars need to keep adding weapons on offense.
A wise man from Canada once said that ‘the best defense is a good offense‘ and that’s true in the NFL. The Jaguars have a couple of solid wide receivers in DJ Chark Jr. and Laviska Shenault Jr. Nevertheless, if they want to use the first overall selection 2021’s draft on Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence, they need to get him as many weapons as they can get. Thus, adding another wideout in the open market would be smart.
PFF predicts the ‘Jags’ will give Indianapolis Colts wide receiver T.Y. Hilton a three-year $28.5 million contract this offseason. On the surface, it made sense, as the Florida International product has made four Pro Bowls and has hauled in 608 receptions for 9,360 yards and 50 touchdowns in his nine-year career.
However, Hilton hasn’t had a 1,000-yard season since 2018 and may not the wide receiver he was in his prime. If this were 2015, it would make sense for the Jaguars to sign the 2012 second-round pick, but it’s 2021 and they may be better off giving that same contract to Keelan Cole, who is scheduled to become a free agent but has been a solid contributor throughout his four-year career in Jacksonville.
