After the 2020 season, Jacksonville Jaguars owner Shahid Kahn talked about the importance of acquiring a franchise quarterback and there’s a 99 percent chance they will take Clemson’s Trevor Lawrence with the first overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.

The downside of drafting Lawrence with the top pick is that the ‘Jags’ will miss out on top-tier prospects such as Alabama wide receiver DeVonta Smith and Oregon left tackle Penei Sewell. The 2019 Outland Trophy winner is arguably the best non-quarterback prospect in this year’s draft, and will likely be a Top-5 pick in the selection meeting even though he opted out of the 2020 season.

If the Jaguars’ biggest need this offseason weren’t quarterback, there’s a chance Sewell would be their pick. After all, left tackle Cam Robinson is scheduled to become a free agent and the Oregon product would represent a significant upgrade at the position.

On the other hand, Sewell won’t be the only Duck that will be available in this year’s draft. The Jaguars’ have ten selections besides the first overall and need to address plenty of roster holes this offseason. That’s why they should consider using some of their picks in these three Oregon players.
