The NFL Honors came and went, and former Jacksonville Jaguars offensive tackle Tony Boselli was left off the Pro Football Hall of Fame once again. However, 2022 might just be the year when he gets his enshrinement.

Boselli has been a Hall-of-Fame finalist five times. This time though, it felt like he had a strong case and would ultimately get in. Instead, guard Alan Faneca, coach Tom Flores, wide receiver Calvin Johnson, safety John Lynch, quarterback Peyton Manning, contributor Bill Nunn, wide receiver Drew Pearson and cornerback Charles Woodson got the nod.

Pete Prisco of CBS Sports believes Boselli got robbed of the honor, and he is right. However, if Boselli had made the cut, who would you have excluded from getting in? As deserving as the former Jaguars left tackle was, it would be unfair to take someone else off the list and it would have been difficult for him to get the nod over someone like Manning.

The Jacksonville Jaguars alumnus could get in as soon as next year.

As disappointing as it was to see Boselli not make it, he should be able to get enshrined next year. Getting in in the same year as Lynch or Woodson was going to be difficult, but the 2022 class doesn’t have a surefire candidate, which could help the USC product make the cut at last.

Mike Tanier of Pro Football believes Boselli will get inducted in 2022 and thinks his short run in the NFL might’ve played a factor in not making the cut. After all, Faneca still dressed up for the AFC Championship game at 33 while Boselli’s career lasted only seven seasons.

Boselli will eventually in and even though it may be frustrating to see him wait, he will get the nod as soon as next year. In the meantime, the Jaguars’ brass has their work cut short after finishing 1-15 in 2020. Wouldn’t it be great to see Jacksonville get to the postseason once again and see Boselli get his gold jacket in the same year? Things happen for a reason and the wait may be worth it.
