If the Kansas City Chiefs feel down after losing to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, they should remember that second comes right after first. Even though quarterback Patrick Mahomes played at a high level, the rest of his team didn’t and the Chiefs’ high-powered offense could only muster nine points.

On the bright side, Kansas City has a core of players, including Mahomes, that should help them reach the championship a few more times in the following years. On the downside, they will have to make a few tough choices due to their precarious cap situation this offseason and will have to part ways with a few of their key contributors. Some of them should have the Jacksonville Jaguars’ attention.

The Chiefs are currently $17 million in the red and will need to restructure a few contracts and release a few players in order to get under the cap. Meanwhile, the Jaguars are projected to have $73 million in cap room and should be able to make a couple of splash signings in free agency.

Last season, the ‘Jags’ were rather passive in free agency, and other than signing linebacker Joe Schobert, they didn’t make any meaningful moves. This year will probably be different and they should target these three Chiefs.
