Ameer Abdullah can provide depth to the Jacksonville Jaguars’ RB room.

When you think of the best running backs in the NFL; Delvin Cook should be one of the first ones that come to mind. He’s one of the few, along with Chris Henry, who is objectively better than the Jaguars’ James Robinson.

Cook will continue to be a key cog in Minnesota’s offense after signing a five-year $63 million contract last year. However, there is another Vikings running back that is scheduled to hit the open market, Ameer Abdullah.

A second-round pick by the Detroit Lions in 2015, Abdullah only racked up eight carries last season and played on six percent of the team’s total snaps on offense. Nevertheless, he showed he can be an asset in the passing game and hauled in eight receptions for 58 yards and two touchdowns. Throughout his six-year career, the Nebraska product has tallied 358 carries for 1,408 yards and eight touchdowns.

Although Abdulla’s days as a starter may be over, he could be a solid backup for Robinson and a free-agent bargain if the Jaguars aren’t interested in devoting much cap space to the running back position.
