If you watched the Jacksonville Jaguars play last season, you will agree there weren’t many things to cheer about. Sure, it was great to see both running back James Robinson have a historic season and their rookie class display flashes of talent.

On the other hand, the ‘Jags’ were able to win just one game in 2020, and watching them lose became rather taxing towards the end of the season. However, one loss stood out from the rest, the one against the Chicago Bears in Week 16.  That day, the team clinched the first overall selection in the NFL 2021 Draft.

For a moment it didn’t seem to matter that the Bears dropped 41 points on the Jaguars, as it was the first time in franchise history that they held the top pick in the selection meeting. Quickly, talks about whom this Jacksonville team would take arose and their 1-15 season became an afterthought.

The ‘Jaguars’ will likely choose Clemson quarterback with the first overall pick, but if they want him to succeed, they will have to surround him with talent. Fortunately, they have ten additional selections and $73 million in cap space, which will help them add talent in the open market. They could look back at those same Bears that handed a loss on them and pouch these pending free agents.
