The Jacksonville Jaguars now hold the 1st overall pick in 2021’s draft.

For most of the 2020 season, the Jacksonville Jaguars held the second overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, but with a loss to the Chicago Bears, and a New York Jets win over the Cleveland Browns, they now have clinched the first overall selection.

For the first 14 weeks of the season, the ‘Jags’ weren’t a good football team, but the Jets were worse, so they held the first overall selection. Before Week 15, the ‘Gang Green’ hadn’t won a single game in 2020, but it all changed when they pulled an upset and beat the Los Angeles Rams.

After Week 15, Jacksonville and New York had identical 1-13 records, but the first overall pick temporarily went to the former due to strength of schedule. While it was great to hear that the Jaguars had the top draft selection, there were two games left in the schedule and many things could’ve happened between now and then.

Nevertheless, the Jets have won their second game of the year, which has helped the Jaguars clinch the first overall pick in next year’s draft and the right to take Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawerence, who is arguable the best college prospect since Andrew Luck in 2012.

There’s a positive vibe surrounding the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Jaguars fans have endured plenty of heartbreaking moments in recent seasons. Other than the 2017 season, when they reached the AFC Championship, this team hasn’t won many games or gone to the playoffs in consecutive years since 1999.

Thus, it’s refreshing to learn that the Jaguars will have the opportunity to draft a quarterback that could help them turn things around in Jacksonville. There seems to be a positive vibe going on on social media and fans haven’t been shy to share their excitement.

The team’s social media team knows who their next quarterback will be.

A Trevor Lawrence versus Deshaun Watson rivalry could become a thing.

Jaguars fans, don’t forget to send the Jets a gift basket.

Next. The case for pursuing Ed Dodds as GM. dark

Barring something extraordinary, the Jaguars will draft Trevor Lawrence in next year’s draft. However, that will just be the start of a new beginning, and it will up to their next general manager and the coaching staff to put their franchise quarterback in a position to succeed.
