The Jacksonville Jaguars will have a long list of head coach candidates.

Doug Marrone is currently the Jacksonville Jaguars head coach, but even though he’s told his job is safe for the remainder of the season, the organization could part ways with him at any time and hire someone else. Once, the ‘Jags’ give Marrone the boot, they will have a vast pool of candidates to choose from, including Carolina Panthers offensive coordinator Joe Brady.

Bleacher Report predicts the Jaguars will hire Brady as their next head coach due to his expertise in the offensive side of the ball. They cite his work with quarterback Joe Burrow at LSU in 2019 and his ability to help Carolina Panther Teddy Bridgewater return to form.

When Brady was the Tigers passing game coordinator, Burrow was 402-of-527 for 5,671, 60 touchdowns, and six interceptions. Furthermore, he won the Heisman Trophy and was named Unanimous All-America.

Meanwhile, Bridgewater has thrived with Brady as his offensive coordinator. This season, he’s 287-of-406, for 3,102 yards, 14 touchdowns, and eight interceptions. Although Bridgewater’s numbers may not pop out of the stat sheet, he’s having the best season of his six-year career.

Why it would make sense for the Jacksonville Jaguars to hire Joe Brady.

The Jaguars currently lack a franchise quarterback and they will likely choose one with the second overall pick in 2021’s draft. Whether it’s Justin Fields or someone else, such as Zach Wilson, they will have someone to mentor and develop him. Brady has shown he can work with young signal-callers, so it the pairing makes sense at least on paper.

This one is going to depend on what kind of head coach the Jaguars’ next general managers will want to hire. Will he want somebody with a proven track record or will an up-and-coming coordinator like Brady. If anything, the ‘Jags’ may end up looking for a new head coach in a year in which there will be many enticing candidates.
