4 Jacksonville Jaguars on defense that must step up vs Titans
These Jacksonville Jaguars’ defense needs to keep showing progress.
It may not look like much, but the Jacksonville Jaguars‘ defense has shown signs of growth since they came back from their bye week. After allowing 30 points or more for six consecutive games, they have allowed not more than 27 in the last five weeks. Although a three-point difference may not look like much, you have to take injuries into consideration.
Throughout the season, the ‘Jags’ have placed cornerback C.J. Henderson, slot D.J. Hayden, defensive tackle DaVon Hamilton, safety Daniel Thomas, and sophomore defensive end Josh Allen on the Injury Reserve List. That’s five starters right the Jaguars’ defense has been without and it speaks volumes about the work defensive coordinator Todd Wash had done with a patched-up unit and his refusal to throw in the towel.
Surprisingly, Jacksonville’s defense might’ve had its best performance of the year against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 13. The unit registered four sacks, one forced fumble, and one interception return for a touchdown.
Although the Jaguars ended up losing the game, the defense kept them on the game and showed up a playmaking prowess it hadn’t displayed all year long. If the team wants to have a similar performance in back-to-back weeks, these four defenders will have to stand out against the Tennessee Titans in Week 14.
