4 best Jacksonville Jaguars running backs during David Caldwell era
These pair showed promise early for the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The Jaguars used a second-round selection on T.J. Yeldon in 2015’s draft, and for a brief moment, it looked like the Alabama product could become the team’s workhorse running back. In his rookie season, Yeldon started 12 games and racked up182 carries for 740 yards and two touchdowns.
However, things went downhill from there, and his workload decreased significantly in the following years. Drafting Leonard Fournette in 2017 signaled the end of Yeldon’s chances to carry the load for this Jacksonville team. In his last two seasons with the team, he carried the ball 153 times for 667 yards and three touchdowns.
Denard Robinson made plenty of headlines when the Jaguars drafted him in 2013 because his official position on the roster was ‘offensive weapon’ instead of the more traditional wide receiver or running back ones. In the end, the NFL asked him to dropped it and settled on running back.
Even though Robinson was a non-factor in his rookie season, he took off in 2014, when he started nine games and racked up 135 carries for 582 yards and four touchdowns. Alas, injuries derailed his career, and never carried the ball more than 67 times in a season.
