Should Jaguars trade for Carson Wentz #11? (Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports) /

There are different ways the Jaguars could get a quarterback in 2021.

Due to the lack of appealing options in 2021’s free agency period, it’s believed the Jacksonville Jaguars will use a first-round draft pick in next year’s Player Selection Meeting to acquire a quarterback. However, they can always trade for one, and Carson Wentz of the Philadelphia Eagles may be available in the offseason.

Wentz was benched in favor of rookie quarterback Jalen Hurts in the Eagles’ 30-16 loss to the Green Bay Packers. The ‘Birds’ didn’t stop there and have announced that Hurts will be the starting signal-caller in Week 14 in order to provide a spark to a team that currently has a 3-8 record.

The Eagles’ decision to bench Wentz doesn’t come as a surprise as he has struggled all season. This year, All in all, he’s 251-of-437, for 2,620 yards, 16 touchdowns, and a career-high 15 interceptions. Moreover, he’s leading the NFL with 19 turnovers and has turned the ball over in all but two games in 2020.

Heading into the offseason, the Eagles may have decided that it’s time to part ways with Wentz, but the only problem with that is that cutting him would leave them with $59.22 million in dead money, a hefty amount of money considering the salary cap may go down next in 2021.

However, trading Wentz is feasible and wouldn’t be financially damaging to the Eagles’ salary cap next season. If Philadelphia decides to make their franchise quarterback, should the Jaguars jump in? Let’s take a look at the pros and cons of making a bid for the North Dakota State product.
