. . . Jake Luton. 6. player. 52

Things didn’t work out how the Jacksonville Jaguars hoped.

The Jaguars drafted quarterback Gardner Minshew II in the sixth round of 2019’s draft, so plenty of observers paid attention when they used another sixth-round selection in 2020 to pick Jake Luton. Did Jacksonville catch lightning in a bottle? It appeared so at least for a moment.

In his rookie debut, Luton went 26-of-38 for 304 yards one passing touchdown, and one rushing touchdown. However, Luton faltered the following week and was frazzled by the Pittsburgh Steelers defense in Week 12. All in all, he played like a sixth-round pick would and is back on the sidelines.

52. . . . Nick Foles. 5. player

When this Jacksonville team gave Nick Foles a four-year $88 million contract in 2019, they thought they were getting the quarterback that helped the Philadelphia Eagles pulled the upset against the New England Patriots in Super Bowl 52. Instead, they got the journeyman version that had played for three different clubs in the three years prior.

Foles went on to start four games for the ‘Jags’ and went 77-of-117 for 736 yards, three touchdowns, and two interceptions. Eventually, he got benched and replaced by Minshew. The team saw there was no place for him and traded him to the Chicago Bears for a ham sandwich in 2020 after just one year with the team.
