4 cornerbacks Jacksonville Jaguars could target early in 2021 NFL Draft

The Jacksonville Jaguars have some decisions to do about their CB room.

Although it may seem like too little too late, the Jacksonville Jaguars defense has improved in the last few weeks. After allowing more than 30 points in six consecutive games, the unit hasn’t allowed more than 27 in the last five games.

It’s worth noting they have done so without their three top cornerbacks. While C.J. Henderson and D.J. Hayden are on the Injured Reserve list, Sidney Jones has been dealing with a hamstring injury for the last three weeks.

Before Jones got injured, he seemed like a candidate to get a contract extension due to his solid play. Now, it looks less certain. The same is true for Hayden, who played well in 2019, but has struggled to stay healthy this season. Although they could end up re-signing with the team, it’s not a certain thing at this point.

Making their future more doubtful is the fact the Jaguars will soon have a new general manager in place, one that didn’t acquire either cornerback and wouldn’t feel the need to retain them. If this Jacksonville team ends up parting ways with the duo, they will have to replenish their cornerback group. The free agency period will offer some choices, but if the front office opts to use the draft as a means to replenish the group, they could target these four players early in the process.
