The Jacksonville Jaguars offense showed up early in the game.

The Jacksonville Jaguars showed against the Minnesota Vikings that their ability to move the ball and make plays last week wasn’t a fluke. Although turnovers end up being the team’s downfall, they were solid on both offense and defense. The offense was efficient once again with Mike Glennon making his second start at quarterback. The veteran trusted rookies Collin Johnson and Laviska Shenault Jr. to make plays throughout the game. The former caught a key two-point conversion towards the end of the game and the latter scored his second touchdown of the year in the first drive of the game.

Jacksonville’s offensive line paved the way for rookie running back James Robinson and gave Glennon plenty of time to throw the ball more often than not. It’s important to point out the Vikings’ defensive line has struggled to pressure opposing quarterbacks, but the Jaguars’ ‘hog mollies’ deserve praise for keeping the veteran quarterback upright and not allowing a sack until the third quarter.

Glennon went 28-of-42 for 280 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions. Meanwhile, Robinson racked up 18 carries for 78 yards and scored his seventh touchdown of the year. The Illinois State standout continues to make a strong push to earn the Offensive Rookie of the Year award.

The Jacksonville Jaguars defense started the second half with a bang.

It wasn’t just the offense though. The Jaguars defense sacked Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins four times and Dawuane Smoot now leads the team in quarterback takedowns with 4.5 after registering two in Week 13. Linebacker Joe Schobert intercepted a pass and returned it for a touchdown. All in all, the defensive line was able to generate some pressure upfront even though they were without defensive tackle DaVon Hamilton, who is on the Injured Reserve List with a knee injury.

On the other hand, not everything was sunshine and rainbows, as the Jaguars turned the ball over four times. Tight end Eric Saubert couldn’t come away with a pass that Vikings cornerback Cameron Dantzler end up intercepting in the second quarter. Glennon and wide receiver Chris Conley ost fumbles and the quarterback threw an interception late in the game.

Down 22-24, the Jaguars found themselves in need of converting a two-point attempt for the second straight week, but this time they pulled it. In an effort to avoid going to overtime, both teams attempted field goals but they failed.

Ultimately, the game went into overtime, and the Vikings won 27-24 after kicker Dan Bailey converted a 23-yard field goal. Although the Jaguars showed up on Sunday and play hard, they have lost in 11 straight games.
