What’s at stake for the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 13?

The Jacksonville Jaguars are already eliminated from playoff contention. However, there will be some things at stake when they take on the Minnesota Vikings a U.S. Bank Stadium in Week 13. The team fired general manager David Caldwell after their 27-25 loss to the Cleveland Browns in Week 12, and more changes are coming.

Most of the coaching staff will be shown the door once the season is over, so they will have to start building a portfolio they can show to their next potential employers. The same is true for players that are set to become free agents in the offseason. They may or may not re-sign with the Jaguars, but if they want to cash in, they will have to put in some good tape.

Left tackle Cam Robinson comes to mind, and so does wide receiver Keelan Cole. They may not be playing to win games, but they need to be playing to get the biggest check they can in free agency. With that in mind, here are a few matchups worth monitoring in Week 13.

Some interesting matchups await the Jacksonville Jaguars in Minnesota.

1. Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins versus Jaguars secondary.

Heading into Week 13, the Vikings’ passing offense ranks eighth in points, and quarterback Kirk Cousins has a penchant for playing efficiently when there are no stakes. He will test a Jaguars secondary that will start Tre Herndon and Luc Barcoo at cornerback.

2. The Jaguars offensive line versus the Vikings defensive line.

The Jaguars offensive line didn’t allow a sack against the Browns in Week 12. While they may not be able to have that kind of performance every game for the remainder of the season, the ‘Vikes’ have had a hard time generating pressure upfront. If Jacksonville’s ‘Hog Mollies’ can give quarterback Mike Glennon enough time to throw the ball, he will have his second solid performance in a row.

3. Jaguars quarterback Mike Glennon versus the Vikings secondary.

Minnesota’s defense currently ranks 27th in points allowed and their front four has not played well in recent weeks. However, their back seven has been solid more often than not. Outside linebacker Erik Wilson has three interceptions this season and Anthony Harris is among the best safeties in the NFL. The duo could make things difficult for Mike Glennon and Jacksonville’s passing attack.
