The current state of this Jacksonville Jaguars team is less than stellar.

The Jaguars roster is devoid of talent, and not just on offense, Bieniemy’s specialty. The defense is in a state of disarray and needs an infusion of talent. That can be fixed in free agency and the draft, but the team will have finite resources and there won’t be a magic fix.

This Jacksonville team is set to have 11 draft selections and $79,67 million in cap space next year. It sounds like a look, but when you take into account how many holes have to be filled, one year may not be enough to turn things around.

The cupboard isn’t totally bare. Rookie running back James Robinson has been a revelation, and the Jaguars have a couple of talented receivers in Laviska Shenault Jr. and DJ Chark Jr. Nevertheless, the duo isn’t in the same echelon as Tyreek Hill and Mecole Hardman and the team doesn’t have a top-notch tight end like Travis Kelce.

On the other hand, both tackle positions could use an upgrade and the same is true for all the defensive line and the secondary. Bieniemy could be a terrific head coach, but he also would need talent to succeed and the Jaguars don’t currently have much.

If the Jaguars are going to hire Bienemy, they need to provide him with enough assets to turn things around. Otherwise, they will set him up for failure.
