Jacksonville Jaguars QB Mike Glennon gets praise ahead of Week 13.

Even though the Jacksonville Jaguars aren’t a playoff team, the Minnesota Vikings aren’t taking them lightly ahead of their Week 13 matchup. Head coach Mike Zimmer saw quarterback Mike Glennon play against the Cleveland Browns and had nothing to say but good things.

Zimmer said in a recent sitdown with the Minnesota media that Glennon’s veteran presence benefited the Jaguars’ offense and went on to praise the quarterback’s arm and his ability to take shots downfield.

Looking back at the Browns game, the Vikings head coach isn’t throwing empty praise around. Glennon was 20-of-35 for 235 yards and two touchdowns. Moreover, he didn’t turn the ball over and averaged 6.71 yards per attempt, which isn’t outstanding, but definitely better than Jake Luton’s 4.08 yard-per-attempt average against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 11.

The Jacksonville Jaguars have a favorable matchup on offense.

The Vikings offense ranks 12th in scoring, but their defense is 27th in points allowed, so this could be a matchup Jacksonville’s offense could take advantage of. The ‘Jags’ rank 28th in points scored but keep in mind their offense operated better with Glennon at the helm. Don’t be surprised if the veteran quarterback takes a few shots downfield early in the game to test a Minnesota defense that ranks 29th in points allowed.

Working in the ‘Jags’ favor is the fact the Vikings defensive line hasn’t been able to generate much pressure upfront in recent weeks. Meanwhile, the Jaguars offensive line kept Glennon’s jersey clean against the Browns. While that kind of performance may not be sustainable down the road, the quarterback should have enough time to throw the ball.

This isn’t going to be an easy matchup for the Jaguars. After all, they haven’t won one game since the season opener. Nevertheless, they should be able to keep things interesting and maybe even earn their second victory of the year.
