Jacksonville Jaguars must target these 4 NFL coordinators for HC job
The Jacksonville Jaguars could poach their AFC South rival’s coaching staff.
The Indianapolis Colts have been a solid team since Frank Reich became the head coach in 2018. Although their offense has been a quarterback away from being a top unit, their defense has thrived for the last three years and that is thanks to the work of defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus.
In Reich’s first year at the helm, the Colts defense ranked tenth in points allowed and nine in total yards. The unit regressed in 2019 and was 18th in points given up and 16 in total yards. Nevertheless, they took a step forward this season and currently rank ninth in points allowed and fifth in yards.
In Indianapolis, Eberflus has helped cornerback Xavier Rhodes become a consistent cornerback, mentored All-Pro linebacker Darius Leonard and squeezed the most out of defensive ends Justin Houston, DeForest Buckner, and Denico Autry.
Before joining the Colts coaching staff, Eberflus was the Dallas Cowboys linebacker coach from 2011 to 2015. During his tenure with ‘Big D’, Eberflus coached DeMarcus Ware Sean Lee, Jaylon Smith, and Anthony Hitchens. That kind of experience could help a Jaguars team that currently ranks near the bottom in most defensive categories and is in need of an upgrade.
