Jacksonville Jaguars: A look at the decision to start QB Mike Glennon
It’s Mike Glennon’s time to shine for the Jacksonville Jaguars.
When the Jacksonville Jaguars (1-9) take the field vs the Cleveland Browns (7-3) they will be suiting up their third different starting quarterback this season. Mike Glennon has received the nod from head coach Doug Marrone following Jake Luton’s four-interception performance versus the Steelers.
‘I think (Glennon) gives us the best chance to win,’ Marrone said Wednesday via Michale DiRocco of ESPN. The head coach mentioned that Gardner Minshew II had just thrown a little bit the week before and wanted him to have a full week of work before putting him on the field. He added the team brought him in him thanks to his experience and should do fine in his first start for the Jaguars.
Glennon started 13 games for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as a rookie in 2013 but has not seen meaningful playing time since 2017 when he started four for the Chicago Bears. He was later benched and has seen minimal playing action ever since. The last time he took the field, he did so for the then-Oakland Raiders and went 4-of-7 in 2019.
While Glennon will have one more chance to display what he can do on the football field, what does the decision to start the veteran quarterback mean for the ‘Jags’?
