Mike Glennon will start for the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 12.

If you watched quarterback Jake Luton play against the Pittsburgh Steelers, you weren’t surprised with the Jacksonville Jaguars‘ decision to bench him. On the other hand, you possibly thought Gardner Minshew II was going to get the start, but the team made it known veteran Mike Glennon will be getting the one getting the starting nod against the Cleveland Browns.

Head coach Dough Marrone said in a recent sitdown with the local media Glennon will be the Jaguars starting quarterback in Week 11. Regarding his decision to start the veteran and not Minshew, Marrone says he wants to give Minshew a full week of workload before he puts him back in the lineup. He added Glennon gives the team the best chance to win Sunday.

The veteran is in his fifth team and has a 6-16 record as a starting quarterback. In his seven-year career, he is 488-of-801 for 5,163 yards, 36 touchdowns, and 20 interceptions. He was originally drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the third round of the 2013 NFL Draft.

The Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback situation doesn’t look enticing.

After three games, the ‘Jags’ know what they have in Luton. The Oregon State standout played well in his debut but struggled in the last two weeks. Minshew started throwing a little bit recently, but there’s no point in rushing him back into the lineup. At this point, this Jacksonville team is out of playoff contention, so it doesn’t make much of a difference if the sophomore quarterback has to wait one more week before playing.

Glennon is not the answer at quarterback and there’s a reason why the team is barely entrusting him into the lineup. Keep in mind he scored 19 of his 36 touchdowns in his rookie season and 13 of the 22 games he’s started were in the same year. The last time he had a meaningful role was in 2017 when he got benched after four games.

In the end, Glennon may only start one game since Minshew should be ready to start in the Jaguars Week 13 matchup against the Minnesota Vikings.
