Jacksonville Jaguars RB James Robinson can make history in Week 11.

When the Jacksonville Jaguars signed James Robinson as an undrafted free agent once the players’ selection process had finished earlier this year, they surely didn’t envision him to become a playmaker, and neither did they imagine he would be only the fifth NFL rookie to achieve a very unique milestone.

If Robinson gets 83 scrimmage yards in the Jaguars’ Week 11 matchup against the Steelers, he will be the fifth undrafted free agent to record 1,000 yards in the common draft era, via the NFL’s communication department. The most recent player to achieve the feat was Phillip Lindsey, who racked up 1,278 scrimmage yards for the Denver Broncos in 2018.

The other three running back to record 1,000 or more in their first NFL campaign are LeGarrette, who had 1,021 yards in 2010, Dominic Rhodes, who at the time was filling in for an injured Edgerrin James, and New York Jets running back Clark Gaines, who was the first undrafted free agent to record more than 1,000 yards back in 1976.

That’s a very exclusive list to be part of and Robinson can get there in Week 11. The rookie running back is averaging 102 scrimmage yards per game, so it’s likely he will get the 83 yards he needs to join the list and then some against the Steelers.

The Jacksonville Jaguars found a stud in James Robinson.

James Robinson has been a revelation for this Jacksonville team in 2020. The former RedBirds running back has started every game this year and has racked up 155 carries for 689 yards for five touchdowns. Furthermore, he’s hauled in 29 receptions for 228 yards and two touchdowns.

While the Jaguars haven’t gotten much production from the quarterback position this year, Robinson has played hard and has been a bright spot for their offense, and has rushed for 36 first downs.

This Jacksonville team struggled to win games in 2020, but Robinson isn’t the reason why. If anything, the Jaguars’ brass needs to acquire more talent in the offseason to make sure they won’t put to waste their star running back’s performance in years to come.
