These 4 free-agents would bolster Jacksonville Jaguars CB room in 2021
The Jacksonville Jaguars can’t neglect their cornerback room in 2021.
Most Jacksonville Jaguars position groups are in need of a facelift and their cornerback group is no different. While the team may give priority to other areas in the offseason, they shouldn’t neglect this defensive unit.
In his rookie season, C.J. Henderson has had an uneven performance but has displayed flashes of the playmaking prowess that made him the ninth overall pick in this year’s players’ selection process. However, the Florida standout isn’t the only first-year corner getting playing time.
This season, Chris Claybrooks has played on 189 snaps, 30.15 percent of the team’s total on defense. Meanwhile, Tre Herndon has had a big role as the team’s third corner and has seen 516 snaps.
Sidney Jones has played well since joining the starting lineup in Week 5 and has had a career revival in Jacksonville after flopping with the Philadelphia Eagles. He is set to become a free agent in the offseason and the team’s brass hasn’t given any indications whether they want to bring him back.
The same is true for D.J. Hayden, who was superb in 2019 but missed time this year with injuries. Just like Jones, the ‘Jags’ haven’t shared their plans regarding Hayden. They could opt to re-sign one or both or replenish their cornerback group in the offseason. If they take that route, they should explore signing these four free agents.
