Jacksonville Jaguars QB Jake Luton is focused on the Steelers.

Quarterback Jake Luton will be making his third start for the Jacksonville Jaguars. Heading into their Week 11 matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers, the rookie signal-caller says he’s ready to take on the remaining undefeated team in the NFL in 2020.

Luton says facing the Steelers is ‘a great challenge‘ and ‘thinks every week is’, via the team’s official website. He added that the more he plays the more prepared he thinks he becomes better and believes ‘this week will not be any different’.

Head coach Doug Marrone has said several times Luton carries himself as a professional and the quarterback’s words and demeanor back up Marrone’s claim.

What should the Jacksonville Jaguars expect from Jake Luton?

Luton played surprisingly well in his professional debut. He was 26-of-38 for 304 yards, one passing touchdown, one rushing touchdown, and one interception. Moreover, he displayed his arm strength and showed he isn’t afraid to take shots downfield. Although the ‘Jags’ ended up losing the game 24-20, the quarterback showed he belongs in the NFL.

However, Luton came crashing down the following week and struggled against the Green Bay Packers. In that game, the rookie signal-caller went 18-of-35 for 169 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. Even though the Jaguars’ defense kept the team in the game, the offense couldn’t capitalize on the opportunities their counterpart gave them.

If the ‘Jags’ want to have a shot at beating the Steelers, they will need Luton to play the way he did against the Texans, and that will be a daunting task in Week 11 as Pittsburgh’s defense ranks third in points allowed in 171.

We don’t know what version of Luton will show up against the Steelers, but the Jaguars will need his best one and even then, it’s not a sure thing they will win the game. Nevertheless, a good performance by the rookie quarterback will increase their chances.
