Jacksonville Jaguars get reinforcements ahead of Week 11 matchup
The Jaguars will have Doug Costin back in the lineup for Week 11.
The Jacksonville Jaguars expect center Brandon Linder to play against the Pittsburg Steelers on Sunday. Also, defensive tackle Doug Costin will play after being clearing concussion protocol. On the other hand, the team isn’t sure yet about wide receiver Laviska Shenault Jr. who is currently listed as questionable.
Head coach Doug Marrone said in a sitdown with the local media that the team expects Linder to play against the Steelers and that he will get some work done ahead of the matchup. Marrone also said that Costin will suit up after missing the last game, but was less certain about Shenault’s status.
Marrone said that the rookie receiver will do some work on the side Wednesday, but they would wait to see how things unfold before making a call. This would be the second game in 2020 the Colorado standout would miss if he isn’t ready to go. In eight games, he’s hauled in 30 receptions for 323 yards and one touchdown. He’s also tallied 11 carries for 54 yards.
The Jacksonville Jaguars need all the help they can get against the Steelers.
The Steelers currently hold a 9-0 record and remain the only undefeated team in the NFL. While it will be difficult for the ‘Jags’ to pull an offset, their odds of beating Pittsburgh will increase with a full deck.
Linder started all 16 games last season but has already missed three in 2020. Rookie Jake Luton has been sacked five times in the last games, so the center’s presence would certainly help stabilize the offensive line.
Meanwhile, Costin was playing well in Week 9 before he left the game with a concussion. He was promptly placed on the protocol and missed the Jaguars’ 24-20 loss to the Green Bay Packers. The rookie defensive tackle will be able to pick up where he left off and seize the starting job opposite of DaVon Hamilton.
The ‘Jags’ certainly want Shenault to dress up, but if he can, wide receivers DJ Chark Jr. and Keelan Cole should be able to pick up some of the slack.
