Jacksonville Jaguars must consider calling these 4 strong safeties in 2021
The Jacksonville Jaguars will have options at safety.
After starting 30 games in his two first years in the NFL, Keanu Neal dealt with injuries the last two. He suffered a season-ending injury in 2018’s first game and had a torn Achilles heel in 2019, but it seems like he is now healthy as he has played in eight games and has started seven this year.
Originally a first-round selection in 2016, Neil received a Pro Bowl designation in 2017 and has amassed 295 total tackles, one interception, 19 pass deflections, and eight forced fumbles. The safety should garner plenty of attention in 2021’s free agency and the Jaguars should have him on speed dial.
Shawn Williams has come a long way since the Cincinnati Bengals used a third-round selection in 2013’s players’ selection process. Although he suited up in every single game in his first three years, it wasn’t until his third season in ‘Cincy’ that he became a starter.
From 2015 to 20019, Williams played in 74 games and started in 61. In that span, he amassed 279 tackles, 12 interceptions, 25 pass deflections, and one forced fumble. Even though his role with the Bengals has decreased in 2020, he could still help plenty of teams.
