The Jacksonville Jaguars should be pleased with Henderson’s growth.

Before the 2020 season started, we didn’t know what to expect out of Henderson and Jones. Henderson had a nice career at Florida, but it was uncertain if he was going to be able to make the transition from the college ranks to the NFL.

At the college level, players can use their physical prowess to dominate and the schemes they play in are rather simplistic. Meanwhile, the level of competition goes up at the pro level and so does the complexity of the game. Players can’t depend on their physical skills to dominate anymore and have to polish their technique.

So far, Henderson has managed to make the transition. He has started all games he’s played in this season and has registered 36 tackles, six pass deflections, and one forced fumble. Early in the season, he was solid but had a rough stretch against the Los Angeles Chargers and the Houston Texans. In that two-game span, he allowed 11 receptions for 202 yards and one touchdown.

After the Texans game, the Jaguars coaching staff express their support for Henderson. The rookie then showed their trust was not misplaced and performed well against the Green Bay Packers in Week 11. The former Gators cornerback gave up just six passes for 42 yards.

Putting aside his stat line, Henderson showed he can put behind a bad game and recover from it. We wouldn’t be surprised if he becomes one of the league’s most exciting young cornerbacks by the end of the season.
